Dr. Andrew S. Bi is an Orthopaedic Surgeon at NYU Langone Health, specializing in sports medicine with a focus on shoulder, elbow, hip, and knee surgery. A lifelong athlete and Olympic-distance triathlete, his personal understanding of sport drives his commitment to getting patients back to what they love.
Dr. Bi graduated summa cum laude from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at NYU Langone—where he served as Executive Chief Resident and earned the Ralph Lusskin Senior Resident Teaching Award—followed by a Sports Medicine Fellowship at Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush, one of the nation’s premier sports medicine programs.
During his fellowship, Dr. Bi served as one of the team physicians for the Chicago Bulls (NBA), Chicago White Sox (MLB), Chicago Steel (USHL), and DePaul University. He continues to serve as a team physician for Brooklyn FC Men’s Soccer (USL), LIU and NYU Athletics.
With over 150 peer-reviewed publications, 25+ award-winning surgical video productions, and an active editorial board and journal reviewer role at Arthroscopy and the American Journal of Sports Medicine, respectively, Dr. Bi combines cutting-edge evidence with compassionate, individualized care.
Dr. Bi’s research focuses include cartilage restoration, meniscal preservation, ACL reconstruction and repair, rotator cuff surgery, shoulder instability, and orthobiologics. He has presented at AAOS, AOSSM, and AANA.
Emphasizing evidence-based, patient-centered care, Dr. Bi is dedicated to optimizing patient outcomes and returning athletes to peak performance through both surgical interventions and innovative non-surgical modalities including physical therapy, holistic medicine, and orthobiologic injections.
